I'm giving away an Advance Reader Copy of my new middle-grade novel LIZZIE AND THE LOST BABY.

Is it ever right to keep something that doesn't belong to you?

That's the question that haunts ten-year-old Lizzie Dewhurst after she makes an astonishing discovery on her first day in Swainedale.

What is that discovery? (Hint: There's a clue in the title.)

Lizzie and her younger brother Peter are wartime evacuees, sent from the city of Hull to live with strangers in Swainedale, a remote Yorkshire valley. After befriending Elijah, a local gypsy boy, Lizzie must navigate the prejudice and fear of the local people as she figures out the answer to the question: Is it ever right to keep something that doesn't belong to you? The story is told from the perspectives of both Lizzie and Elijah, whose two very different worlds intermingle in an exploration of intolerance and compassion.

LIZZIE AND THE LOST BABY is available for pre-order from your local independent bookstore (find one here), from the publisher (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), from Amazon (here), from Barnes and Noble, and other places where books are sold.

On January 12, 2016 you will be able to find out how ten-year-old Lizzie Dewhurst answers her important question if you buy a copy of Lizzie and The Lost Baby. But one lucky person can win an ARC of the book and find out before then.

How Do I Win?
Anyone who leaves his/her name on this post will have one entry in the drawing. Extra entries for anyone who Tweets about the giveaway (just let me know in the comments below that you tweeted the information). On Friday December 18th I will pick at random one lucky winner and send an ARC of Lizzie and The Lost Baby winging on its way.

Sample Tweet: Check out the cover of LIZZIE AND THE LOST BABY by @BlackfordBooks & win an ARC!

Don't forget to link to this page in your tweet. (Tip: The URL for this page is long so shrink it with Ow.ly or some other magical shrinking tool.)

Please share this information far and wide. (Yes I know - that reduces your chances of winning, but you're a good sport, right).

Bad News: You have to be in the US or Canada to win. It's too expensive to ship the book anywhere else. (Sorry relatives in the UK.)
