I will be at the Tucson Festival of Books on Sunday March 12th. My panels will be: Writing and Selling your First Book (Sunday 10:00-11:00 am with Kathleen Glasgow and Mary. E. Lambert), The Impact of War and Conflict (Sunday 2:30 pm with Deborah Hopkinson and Alexandra Bracken) and Writing and Selling Books for Middle Grade Readers (Sunday 4:00 pm with James Burkes and Lisa Papademetriou). This is a fabulous book festival and I hope to see some of you there.
I am thrilled to announce that I have been awarded a MN State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant for 2017. I can't wait to get started on my new book.
LIZZIE AND THE LOST BABY my historical fiction novel for ages 8-12 is available now. Visit my Lizzie page for information about the book and upcoming events, to see reviews, and find links to fabulous photographs (including pictures of the Yorkshire setting, Gypsy/Traveler caravans, and horses). You will find an educator's guide on the Teachers and Parents resources page for Lizzie.
HUNGRY COYOTE received a 2015 Moonbeam Children's Book Award for picture books for ages 4-8 and a Kirkus starred review including these words: "A beautiful tribute to a much-maligned animal with which we share our world." (Please read the full review here.) On my "Hungry Coyote" page you'll find information about the book and event updates as well as links to photos taken at past events. You can also find activity sheets and a teacher guide on my Teachers/Parents page.
On YouTube you can also find a great video of me talking about coyotes and the making of my book.
